DAVID CHONG LEE, MY NEW GOYA.

DAVID CHONG LEE IS AN ARTIST ORIGNALLY FROM SEOUL, KOREA. HIS ASPIRATIONS TO BE PROFICIENT IN FINE ART LED HIM TO THE ACADEMY OF ART UNIVERSITY SAN FRANCISCO WHERE HE GRADUATED IN 1997. HIS PIECES (to me) ARE VERY REMINISCENT OF FRANCISCO GOYA. WHILE BOTH ARTISTS DEFINITELY HAVE A UNIQUE VOICE, THEIR TECHNIQUES SEEM TO HAVE A CONGRUENCY. CHECK OUT SOME OF DAVID'S PIECES BELOW, & PLEASE ENJOY THEM:)

THIS ONE DEFINITELY REMINDS ME OF "ST. PETER REPENTANT" BY GOYA. NOT JUST THE SIMILARITY IN SUBJECT MATTER, BUT ALSO THE USE OF THE PAINT AND BUSHSTROKES TO CREATE A TEXTURE ON THE CANVAS THAT EVOKES THE EMOTIONS PORTRAYED IN THE PIECE. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
