Boys and girls, how much are you looking forward to the sun-kissed, heavenly-scented, exposed summertime bodies that are already peeping out from the tiny buds of spring? My advice, start putting in that work so that even now you can have healthy, taut skin that is just waiting to be covered (barely) by the sheerest fabrics or not at all! Check out some of my favorite new men's and women's products that will help you on your journey to summer-time fine!
Justin Timberlake, pretty much a music idol in the 21st century, was recently named Creative Director for Bud Light Platinum, I noted last week that Alicia Keys was named the Global Creative Director for Blackberry, Taylor Swift has something serious going on with Diet Coke, and now Lupe Fiasco has accepted the role of Creative Director for a new health app, Higi. I respect Lupe's choice to find a place in a environment that is working in the wellness field, it seems to fit him. Check ABC.com's top 8 Celebrity Creative Directors. I mean, I get that bringing a celebrity onboard might bring a certain element of sex/allure that only someone with a large fan base would incite, but seriously hey multiplatinum singer/songwriters? Can you leave some jobs for us regulars? Regards, CLATACLATA
Absolutely LOVE Aubrey Plaza and her deadpan, ocassionally macabre, humor. Her character April on Parks and Recreation is one of the reasons why it became one of my favorite shows. She also has that subdued beauty that could even pull of this (hideous/loose) nightie she is wearing on the upcoming Complex Magazine. I wholly reject this stylist's vision for this concept. The onesie-romper-atrocity would've worked(maybe) in some sort of offbeat sleep-over themed shoot (think Dream Phone circa 1991), but in this case, HOW DOES IT CORRELATE TO SILLY STRING AGAIN?! I would totally give props if she was wearing a hot piece that owns any shoot despite its incongruity with the intended theme, but this time I CAN'T. Don't even get me started on the whole "silly string is funny" idea. But all in all, I dig the colorway and like I said, Ms. Plaza is a bonifide piece of sex. Check a cute clip of her from Parks and Recreation.
Taiye Selasi's upcoming novel, Ghana Must Go, a work that chronicles the bi-continental existence of West African Folasadé Savage. She travels from Lagos, Nigeria to Massachusetts where her tumultuous tale begins like a dream; meeting her future husband who is a revered surgeon.
However, things go awry once he loses his job and deserted their family to return to the continent.
Fola's tale has been reviewed as detailed and poignant especially since her story is set during the 1983 mass exodus of Ghanaians from Nigeria. In fact this historical event is where the term for the "Ghana Must Go" bags came from. Apparently the Ghanaians were expelled with such haste, many hurriedly packed their belongings in these plastic woven red and blue bags, and from there the phrase was popularized. CLEARLY, I'VE ALREADY ORDER MY COPY. GET YOURS HERE.
These sculptures by Eric Franklin capture the eye, using their intricate design and neon vibrancy. The glass blown skeletons are infused with ionized krypton that produce the luminescence in the piece. below you'll find his 2012 piece, "Embodiment," which took about 2 years to create and is wholly stunning.
