Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native Charles "Teenie" Harris, chronicled much of the urban and rural black existence in his state.  His images now stand as beacons of historic value and lend a rich insight to African American lifestyles of the early to mid 20th century in that region.

Carnegie Museum of Art has ongoing exhibit of Harris' photographs in a show titled, "Teenie Harris: Focus on Hair."  The show intertwines images and storytelling to convey the black aesthetic at that time and illustrate the integral role that Harris' images play for the present generation.

If you're in Pittsburgh check out the show.
